Marketing Tip Tuesday!
Over the last several weeks, we have been discussing the ways in which practices with the BEST PI close rates have been able to increase their numbers so substantially. Knowing how well practices who see PI Patients regularly do, we want to continue that train of thought with another tip that is going to help you close the patient faster, and give you a great reputation!
What is this magic Tip? Purchasing the police report for the patient.
Police reports hold a wealth of knowledge about the accident that you are likely going to need, and the patient is likely to forget. Contained in this report is usually the patient’s auto insurance policy number, the insurance and policy number of the other party, who was at fault, as well as accident details that you or the patient might end up needing in order to bill for their care. Purchasing the report yourself means that you won’t have to rely on the patient to bring this information to their appointment, and can start insurance verification as soon as possible.
Getting this report for the patient is going to really show them that you are going the extra mile in order to take care of them. Most of them have no idea how to get a hold of such a thing, or that they will even need it. But YOU know that the police reports are vital should the patient need to see an attorney, if they have forgotten details of the accident, and if they didn’t get a complete exchange of information at the scene. Imagine that instead of being given a list of things that they need to bring to you, you can tell them that you have all of the information you need already! What a stress reliever for that patient!
Now, are not suggesting that you obtain the police report for every patient that sets a PI appointment with you, because we know that cost can add up, and many of those patients are not likely to show up. So, what we recommend is that the report is purchased AFTER the patient has been in for their screening, but BEFORE they complete the full exam. If they do both at the same visit, just let them know that you will be trying to get a hold of the report as soon as possible and will reach out to them once that is complete to talk about their insurance coverage – and make sure you do.
Report cost and access vary per area. Access is typically granted to anyone who is an interested party to the case, so once this patient has been in to see you, you will qualify (Please Note: it is illegal in most areas for Chiropractors to attempt to obtain reports in bulk and/or reports for patients who are not interested in becoming patients).
