So how do you grow a personal injury practice?
There are numerous methods but I am going to share the secrets we have found from most effective practices in the nation.
- Brand your practice as a specialist in Personal Injury – Many doctors lose their own patients to the “Auto Injury Clinic” down the road from them. This is because their own patients don’t know their existing chiropractor can treat them after an Auto Accident. Have PI posters on your wall, PI window graphics on the outside of your office, PI business cards, PI referral cards, hand out glove box guides, putting up yard signs and other branding to let your existing and new patients know that you are a PI practice.
- Reach out to recent auto accidents – First you have to educate them on why they should be evaluated after an accident if they have been noticing pain. Most people are unaware on how a chiropractor can treat them nor why they should see one after an accident. Interestingly enough, very few people really understand their insurance benefits. They don’t know that massage and chiropractic care are covered, what PIP is, nor that they don’t need a referral. We have found that Personal Injury postcards as well as tasteful calls to be the most effective in reaching out to recent auto accidents.
- Establish Referrals from other auto accident professionals – You can grow a very effective PI practice by simply building a referral network. This is produces solid and long term referrals but does take little bit longer to establish than reaching out to recent auto accidents, but I refer to it is as the locomotive approach in that it takes a little while to build momentum but once it get started it doesn’t take much to keep it moving. You can gain great referrals from Auto Body Shops, Towing Companies, Insurance brokers, MD’s, Urgent Care docs, ER Doctors, PI Attorneys, and many other industries. There are a few PI marketing materials we recommend to implement this successfully. I have a client who has earned over $500k in referrals from one naturopath! Sure it has been over 10 years, but it doesn’t take much to maintain the relationship and no one else is marketing to this industry!
